Maeve Crowley

Europe Representative; Board Member and Trustee; Volunteer

I am a Consultant Clinical Psychologist and have been working in trauma since I qualified in 1990. I work in Sussex Partnership NHS Trust where I am Clinical Lead for Complex Trauma (CPTSD and Dissociative Disorders). I have a small private practice and provide supervision across the NHS and private sector. I am an EMDR Consultant Supervisor for both Adults and CHYPS. I also am an EMDR Facilitator. I have been involved with the EMDR UK board since 2012 and was President 2014-2016. I am on the Executive Committee of EMDR Europe and have been just elected as Co-Vice President of EMDR Europe.

Why did you choose to train (or retrain) in EMDR therapy?

As I was working in trauma and attachment, I decided to train in EMDR in 2001 as I could not believe what I heard about and wanted to explore it myself. I was excited and humbled about how it impacted people. My journey and commitment to EMDR has continued over the years.

What is your favourite place on the planet?

Coming from Ireland and living by the sea now, I love islands. Inis Meain off the west coast of Ireland is a special place where I have enjoyed sitting looking out at the Atlantic while connecting to the literary and ancient culture. I feel the same about the Greek islands, though the culture can be experienced in warmer climes!
