Emma Mullins-Crocker

Chair of the EDI Committee, Scientific Research Committee and Communications Committee; Board Member and Trustee; Voluntee

I am an Integrative psychotherapist and have been in private practice for a number of years. Previously I was in retail management for many years and found that my favourite part of the role was working with, and supporting people. I retrained and did a Psychology degree before completing my MSc in Integrative Counselling and Psychotherapy and then went on to do my EMDR training. Recently I realised that I missed being part of a team with a wider goal and when I saw there were openings within the association I applied. I joined the EMDR association as a Trustee and member of the Board in March 2024. I have also joined the EDI, Research and Communication Committees.

Why did you choose to train (or retrain) in EMDR therapy?

I am passionate about working with complex trauma and wanted something that would complement my clinical practice. During my degree I was drawn to Neuropsychology and understanding more about how the brain and body connect. When exploring additional training and CPD I was always drawn to things that offered holistic support. I trained in EMDR as I felt it was something that offered that holistic approach is scientifically backed and offered hope where for many there wasn’t any.

What is your favourite place on the planet?

I would have to say swimming around my local lake on a sunny, crisp spring morning.
