Andrew Wilkinson
Trustee; volunteer; member of governance committee; member of communications committee.
I’m Dr Andrew Wilkinson, Clinical Psychologist in Complex MSK Pain at Newcastle upon Tyne Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. I’m an EMDR Europe Accredited Consultant & Training Facilitator, and a BABCP Accredited Cognitive Behavioural Psychotherapist & Supervisor.
Why did you choose to train (or retrain) in EMDR therapy?
I trained in EMDR in 2010 when the service I was working in then was seeing a surge in trauma-related referrals. I wanted to find an approach that would give me more confidence working with trauma and this is what EMDR gave me, especially when I was able to access specialist supervision from an EMDR Consultant. Over the years EMDR has become a real passion of mine. I have seen many excellent outcomes in the clinic and I really enjoy sharing that passion by providing supervision and facilitating at trainings.
What is your favourite place on the planet?
Crete is my special place: up in the hills, around the coast, through the small, sleepy villages, all of it resting on the ruins of an ancient civilisation and fantastical myths from schoolboy readings.
