Refugee & Asylum Seeker SIG
This SIG focusses on the application of EMDR with Refugees and Asylum seekers in the UK and abroad. We are a diverse group, some with considerable experience in the NHS, the third sector, and abroad, some a casual interest.
We meet about 7-8 weekly, and sometimes the theme of the meeting is informal discussions (new research, news and developments in the refugee sector), sometimes it as a case discussion (where a complex case is presented and participants discuss their approach), and sometimes informal training.
The aims of the SIG are:
- To provide support and guidance to the members of the EMDR Association in the area of Migrants and Refugees as required
- To provide clinical guidance to the EMDR Association in the area of best practice on issues relating to Migrants and Refugees as required.
- To educate members on a range of issues related to Migrants and refugees through CPD, conference presentations, pamphlets, etc.
- To co-develop research and an evidence base in the areas of EMDR with Migrants and refugees, as required.
- To disseminate research findings to members as appropriate
