Please Note:
All therapists listed on this site are accredited with EMDR UK and Europe. This means they have proven levels of experience and competency in EMDR therapy beyond the foundation training, and have to prove that they are continuing to keep their skills up to date.
There are three levels of accredited therapist as follows:
- Practitioners are therapists who have been supervised in their EMDR practice beyond the standard training and demonstrated their competence to an EMDR Consultant.
- Consultants are therapists who have demonstrated higher levels of experience and competency, including supervising and accrediting other EMDR therapists.
- Trainers are highly experienced EMDR therapists who have undertaken a rigorous programme of development and study. They train other therapists in EMDR therapy and have demonstrated competence to a governing committee of the Europe Board.
Check out your therapist
If you find someone practicing EMDR therapy who is not listed on this site, check that they undertook EMDR Europe authorised training. Therapists should also be registered with a professional body such as the British Association of Councillors and Psychotherapists (BACP) or the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC).
EMDR is an advanced psychotherapy requiring a high level of skill. Unaccredited courses will not give the therapist competence in this approach and could leave you at risk.
