All therapists listed on this site are accredited with EMDR UK and Europe. This means they have proven levels of experience and competency in EMDR therapy beyond the foundation training, and have to prove that they are continuing to keep their skills up to date. There are three categories of accredited therapist as follows:
Practitioners are therapists who have been supervised in their EMDR practice beyond the foundation training and demonstrated their competence to an EMDR Consultant.
Consultants are therapists who have demonstrated higher levels of experience and competency, including supervising and accrediting other EMDR therapists.
Trainers are highly experienced EMDR therapists who have undertaken a rigorous programme of development and study. They train other therapists in EMDR therapy and have demonstrated competence to a governing committee of the Europe Board.
You may find your therapist is not listed on this site. This could be because they have completed an accredited foundation training but are not accredited with EMDR Europe. Please check their accredited training certificate and that their core mental health profession is being maintained. It could be that your therapist did not complete an accredited training. We would not recommend you seek EMDR therapy from these clinicians. EMDR is an advanced psychotherapy requiring a high level of skill. Unaccredited courses will not give the therapist confidence or competence in this approach and could leave you at risk.
