THIS WORKSHOP WILL NOT BE RECORDED

Parts or ego states are naturally occurring phenomena within the human person. They can be conceptualised as neural networks containing experiences along a continuum from adaptive to dysfunctionally stored. They can range from being more integrated and coherent to being more fragmented and dissociated. They are found to be coordinated to greater or lesser degrees under the leadership of the inner or core self. A parts-informed approach can help the clinician identify and understand the various parts that are present in the system. Parts or ego state therapeutic approaches can also offer relevant methodologies and interweaves for working with parts in EMDR therapy.

Participants will learn:

  1. To understand the nature and development of internal parts and the role thet play in human functioning.
  2. To map the internal system, identifying the parts that are present in individual clients.
  3. To understand and identify the levels of integration and dissociation that are operating in the internal system.
  4. To recognise and understand the core self and to facilitate self-leadership in EMDR therapy.
  5. To recognise, understand and work with protector parts in EMDR therapy.
  6. To recognise, understand and work with trauma reliving parts in EMDR therapy.
  7. To facilitate the integration of parts held at various levels of dissociation.
  • To discuss how different cultures and populations may experience parts
  1. To consider different responses to the experience of parts.

The workshop will include illustrated presentations of relevant material, demonstrations, experiential application, discussion and questions.
