Presentation objectives:
- Explore the significance of pre-trial therapy for EMDR clients involved in the Criminal Justice System (CJS)
- Discuss the unique complexities and dynamics of providing EMDR therapy within the CJS context.
- Examine the ethical and legal challenges, particularly balancing client confidentiality with legal obligations
- Explain best practice and procedures governing the disclosure of EMDR therapy notes.
- Discuss the role of collaboration with the Police and Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) to ensure compliance with legal requirements
- Discuss documentation and note keeping
- Discuss how to obtain and document informed consent for EMDR therapy in the pre-trial context.
- Share insights from the presenters’ experience of working in a Sexual Assault Referral Centre and working in collaboration with the Police and the CPS
- Equip delegates with knowledge to support EMDR clients involved in the CJS effectively
