2. To present a case study of EMDR sand tray with a traumatised 7-year-old with dissociative tendencies.
3. To provide an opportunity for learning and discussion about how and why sand tray EMDR was utilised to created stabilisation in Phase 2 and some reprocessing Phase 4.
Learning Outcomes and how it will develop EMDR practice with young people:
1. Attendees will gain an overview of the case conceptualisation and how the clinician engaged the family and the team around him.
2. Using the AIP model as a lens, attendees will have an opportunity to discuss the child’s presentation at the start of therapy in terms of dissociative tendencies to current presentation of an emerging self.
The event will demonstrate the development of a child’s therapy from complete shutdown to current presentation. The use of EMDR sand tray as a way for engaging the child may be of interest for those who are EMDR sand tray trained but wish to see how the treatment progressed. For therapists not trained in EMDR sand tray it is an opportunity to see this way of working.
