Richard Mitchell
Chair of European Standards Committee, Chair UK Eligibility Committee, Board Member & Trustee, Volunteer
I was the lead mental health social worker and psychotherapist in a London bourgh’s multidisciplinary mental health crisis intervention service for many years. In 1994 I was trained in EMDR by Francine Shapiro. For me, it felt that I was in the right place at the right time. This revolutionary new EMDR therapy seemed such a natural progression from the work that my team and I had been doing. Since then, EMDR has gradually become a focus of all my therapeutic work and training. I became involved in building the EMDR community throughout Europe and progressed to be the founding president of the EMDR Europe Association. I am the current chair of the EMDR Europe Standards Committee responsible for accreditation EMDR Europe trainers and training courses. I am also chair of the EMDR UK association’s Eligibility to train Committee. My passion for EMDR remains undiminished.
