Hello, I am a European accredited Consultant and Facilitator in EMDR therapy. I am accredited Practitioner in Cognitive Behavioural Psychotherapy with the British Association of Behavioural and Cognitive Psychotherapists. I have been practising in EMDR since 1991 and have presented papers at many national and international conferences on the use of EMDR on topics such as, OCD, Peri-natal PTSD, Vicarious Trauma and Morbid Jealousy. I have published in a variety of peer related journals and is research active in a variety of projects (currently the use of EMDR with OCD. The Regional Groups [RG’s] are an essential component of EMDR UK.
I am currently the National Regional Coordinator for the Association. The role of the National Regional Coordinator is to liaise with the RG’s and act as a conduit between the RG’s and the EMDR board. It is not to advocate or agitate on behalf of the RG’s to the board or vice versa. I am a passionate advocate of furthering the research base for EMDR therapy in the UK, not just for PTSD but for all general mental health pathologies.
Why did you choose to train (or retrain) in EMDR therapy?
In 1991, I was training in CBT, when I read Shapiros seminal article, I began using it for general mental health issues and found it very effective. As we did not have EMDR training in the UK at that time, myself and a colleague travelled to the USA to begin are training.
