Equality Diversity and Inclusion

We are looking for members to join the EDI committee. Those with lived experience and a passion for EEDI (equality, equity, diversity and inclusion) are encouraged to consider joining.

The Role of the EDI Committee:

Being a committee member is a voluntary position. The role includes being responsible for discussing and making recommendations to the Board on issues that relate to equality, diversity and inclusion. Ultimately the committee are responsible to for ensuring that EEDI is considered in all areas of the associations work. These include but are not limited to:

  • Guidance and policies
  • Monitoring inclusion
  • Planning and providing training
  • Communication with the membership

Operation of the EDI Committee

The committee meet every 6-8 weeks on a Monday at 6pm for 1.5 hours. This may change from time to rime to accommodate members. Occasionally other relevant parties may be requested to join meetings.

Becoming a committee member

Becoming a committee member enables you to:

  • Be part of the wider associations leadership team and impact the direction and actions of the association
  • Lead short life working groups pursing certain projects
  • Engage with other members who are passionate about EMDR with reference to areas of interest in particular committees.
  • Be pivotal in the future of EMDR Association UK
  • Improve how things work for the better
  • Ability to directly impact the work of the association
  • Gain new skills and valuable experience: knowledge and skills you might not have within your day-to-day role
  • Making new frineds
  • Improving confidence
  • Sense of connection to others in the community

Expectations of members

  • To attend committee meetings that range from monthly to bimonthly meetings
  • To share their opinions and action points
  • Take ownership of areas/tasks regarding their portfolio and contribute to others
  • Where needed, develop a short life working group for intense and focused work
