Joanne Porter’s joy in her work shines through this informative article on working with people with intellectual disabilities. She highlights that such individuals are more likely to experience trauma than people without such disabilities but that they are less likely to receive the appropriate trauma therapy. Using some examples from her practice she shows how the standard protocol can be adapted for use with PWID.

Treating endometriosis pain with EMDR: A case report
Peter Pruyn shares his work with a client whose EMDR treatment for extreme driving anxiety uncovered complex developmental trauma and acute endometriosis pain. Gently working with Grant’s pain protocol, the young woman was able to re-conceptualise her pain so that she was better able to manage it and get on with her life.
